What a huge week for Umbrella! To begin with, the festival finally fully unveiled Umbrella 2020’s official artwork! We welcome our gorgeous singing Rosella mascot into the Umbrella family, surrounded by vibrant sunset tones and musical rain. This was created by local Adelaide artist, Ruby Allegra. Ruby is a multi-talented young adult, with skills ranging across digital and fine art, makeup artistry and speech pathology. Their take on South Aussie live music culture incorporates a nod to the Kaurna land that Music SA stands upon; with the native Rosella featuring as the design’s centrepiece. Merchandise will be available soon on the Umbrella website, with more details to be announced next week…

In equally as exciting news, Monday the 24th marks the opening of all registrations for 2020. Thanks to Adelaide Fringe and their generous partnership, this can be done easily online via our AVR (artist venue registration) platform. Those who have been a part of the Adelaide Fringe will be familiar with the system, as it uses the same infrastructure as their registration process. The simple to use system allows venues, artists and event promoters to register their events for $25. Provided this is done before May 4th, this includes a personalised printed space in 30,000 copies of the official Umbrella Program, distributed SA wide and in some interstate locations as a part of Umbrella’s comprehensive marketing campaign.

Additional to all this, Umbrella’s info sessions for 2020 are well underway. This year Music SA has launched 10 different sessions across 8 different locations SA wide! Info sessions at Holdfast Bay, Port Adelaide and Adelaide CBD have already been completed, with plenty more to come. Each session is full of helpful information about what Umbrella Festival is and how to be a part of our 2020 programme. If you are a venue owner, musician, event promoter, event manager, local council staff member, or just curious about the festival, these sessions could be very helpful for you!

With our historic regional expansion, Umbrella will be hitting the road to chat all things winter live music across regional South Australia for the first time ever.
