Umbrella Festival is hosting ReConnect on Thursday April 14 at The Jade, an event based on rebuilding networks after two years of disconnection.
The Umbrella team spends a lot of time talking to musicians, venues, promoters and bookers in South Australia. We so often hear a similar story; “I want to gig more, I just don’t know how to set it up!”, or perhaps, “I just want to set up music in my venue, but I don’t know where to find artists!”. It’s clear that South Aussies want to be out and about sharing music for the world to hear. However, especially with 2 years of COVID impacting our usual social connections, many people are lacking the industry relationships to be putting on gigs regularly.
That is why we are so keen for our FREE workshop – ReConnect! All members of the local music community are invited to ReConnect. Whether you’re an emerging artist who wants to meet a venue promoter and book your first gig, or a veteran of the industry who wants to catch up with old friends – this workshop will provide a platform to ReConnect and start a conversation about how the live music industry will operate in 2022 and beyond.
Nick O’Connor (Northern Sound System) will lead the discussion, joined by representatives from different sectors of the live music industry including:
- Jessi Tilbrook (PAK Music)
- Jesse Coulter (Five Four)
- Anne Wiberg (The Lab)
- Adrian Schmidt Mumm (Slowmango)
- Steve Pitkin (Music SA)
With more speakers to be announced soon!
The evening will include a Q&A discussion, opportunities for one on one industry meet and great, and hopefully a whole lot of music industry match making!
We can’t wait to see you all there!
