The Man Himself is the solo project of Matt Hill (front man from Adelaide band Ghyti). Performing both solo acoustically and with a full band, he has carved out a unique place in the local music scene, playing underground DIY indie rock with influences ranging from britpop, new wave and post punk to jangle pop, folk and country.
Following a few homemade EPs and singles, TMH released the debut album All Day Breakfast in November 2023, accompanied by a limited edition zine made by visual artist Grant Parke. A second full-length album Extra Ordinary is scheduled for release in early 2025, the first taste from which is the slightly unhinged single Supportive Inner Monologue. Determinedly individual, and demonstrating an admirable disregard for fashion, The Man Himself is either destined for great things, or artistically credible obscurity.
Whichever way it goes, he's taking you down with him.
