UniBar has been a vital part of the South Australian live music scene since opening circa 1975. While taking on many incarnations is has almost continuously hosted live original music in some form for more than 45 years and was inducted into the South Australian Music Hall of Fame in 2022. The current custodians have been operating the venue since 2019 following a physical transformation of the space to modernise it an allow increased versatility. UniBar is an independently operated venue and was recognised with a nomination for Best Live Music Venue at the 2021 South Australian Music Awards, having booked over 200 artists since the pandemic decimated the live music industry in March 2020, the most of any venue in South Australia. UniBar has a storied history having hosted 1000’s of bands, the likes of Silverchair, Blink 182, Violent Soho, Powderfinger, Parkway Drive, Tash Sultana, Dune Rats and You Am I (to name very few). UniBar’s license now extends outside of the building, taking in the Cloisters and lawn areas, home to many a fabled live music experience in its beautiful urban amphitheater setting including O’Ball dating back to the 80s, IndieFest500, South Australian Music Awards, Adelaide Fringe and part of the home of the first Big Day Out in Adelaide.
